Wow, isn’t it incredible how much can change in the space of a few weeks?! They’ve been pretty packed but that’s not a bad thing, we all know i like to keep busy 🙂 Doctors appointments, dog walks
I had a Lymphoscintigraphy scan last week, sounds fancy right? It was to check the lymphatic system in my legs, just to ensure it’s behaving and doing its job properly. I haven’t got the results yet so I can’t tell you about those, but what I can tell you is that it was quite possibly the worst procedure I’ve ever had done (and I’ve had major back surgery!!), ok so perhaps that’s a little dramatic but seriously it wasn’t pleasant! They had to do six injections, of radioactive gloop, BETWEEN MY TOES!!!! I then got plonked on a table under a huge scanner and left there for half an hour with the worst music I’ve ever had to endure 😂 Thankfully after that I was allowed to go for a coffee before returning to have a second, slightly shorter scan done. Pain overcome I’m glad it’s done and can now wait impatiently for what feels like a lifetime before the results arrive!
The next bit of news could not be better, I mean seriously who ever thought a doctor would actually say they no longer needed to see me! And not in a dismissive way, no no she was so amazed and I think a little impressed that I am managing my PoTS symptoms so well with diet and mental attitude that she said there’s nothing else they can be doing for me, I am beyond happy 😀 I know I have the condition and yes sometimes it sucks but that’s all I needed, I needed an explanation as to why I feel the way I do, new symptoms and issues will arise all the time but I can deal with them and handle them as they arrive now that I am aware of the underlying issue. Dysautonomia and PoTS haven’t won this battle so far and I pray they never will 🙂 So its official, I have been discharged from the autonomic team at London’s amazing NHNN and with all due respect I hope i never have a reason to go back!
Lastly, it was weigh in Wednesday today and I have finally crashed through the stone barrier on the scales plus lost a few more centimetres! That’s a total of 16lbs in three weeks all thanks to dropping my carb intake, I can’t believe how much water I’ve shifted and how much slimmer my legs are already. I’ve measured various sites all over my body and today’s tape told me I’ve now lost a total of 30cm in total, how amazing is that?! I’m not measuring my macros or weighing out cups of peas, im loosely following the Ketogenic diet but ultimately I’m just aiming for a carb intake of less than 20g per day.
So there we have it 🙂 I knew my positive attitude would pay off in the end, I feel this week has been absolutely fabulous and has provided me with some proof that determination and a positive mind can achieve anything. I’m hoping to get some time in the kitchen this week so I should have some recipes for you soon xx
